A release of diesel fuel occurred from UST product line piping supplying a backup power generator. Workers housed in a nearby basement complained of diesel fumes. The complicated configuration of the site did not allow for a typical site assessment by standard drilling practices. Therefore, Flynn used hand borings along the building footer to identify the likely area of concern. A series of well points were installed along the footer by hand and a small soil vapor extraction system was installed to mitigate the indoor vapor problem. The air quality immediately improved and there were no additional complaints.
